Project Description

Both Sentinel satellites carry advanced radars which are used to make images of the earth’s surface. Floods, earthquakes, air pollution are picked up with these radars.

They monitor our planet 24 hours a day, so a quick response can be made during disasters. In the Netherlands, this usually consists of monitoring dykes and for example predicting earthquakes in Groningen.

“Copernicus programme is headed by the European Commission (EC) in partnership with the European Space Agency (ESA)”.
